Synopsis:
Dominic & Debbie are hopelessly in love. They live with Grandad but dream of getting a place of their own. Set amidst New Labour’s 1997 victory, this is a film about love & aspiration at the expense of morality in post Thatcher Britain.
Case Study:
Gardens with Red Roses is our most recent film. It was self funded, supported by Age Concern and is currently being used proactively by ACTION on ELDER ABUSE to raise awareness, funding and to change policy. So far, AEA have successfully instigated the following events:
Events:
Parliamentary Event: In September of this year, Gardens with Red Roses will be screened in parliament at a lobbying event hosted by Baroness Greengross.
Corporate Fundraising Event: Scheduled for early November 2009, the film will be screened along with a panel discussion at an evening function targeted at large corporate funders.
AEA Regional Membership Events: In January of next year, the film will be shown at a series of events designed to develop regional branches of Action on Elder Abuse.
Testimonial:
“The complexity and subtlety of elder abuse is often hard to express in words, and even harder for people to understand and believe. But in this film, the almost routine way in which old people can be used and abused is displayed in a stark reality that is only truly apparent in the closing scene. And then you feel cold. And angry. We plan to use Gardens with Red Roses to raise awareness and funding. It will reach people in a way that nothing has done previously.”
